The WHO raised the status of the swine flu to 4 out of 6. 6 would be a pandemic, 4 is contagious. It has caused almost 150 deaths in Mexico but none anywhere else. The CDC does not know what spreads it. For the US during the 90's, 36,000 people died every year from influenza or related illnesses. What do you think?

some articles are saying that they're going to bring it up to a 6. Others are saying that it's going down to a 4. Also, I thought only 1 person had died.

People become concerned about the flu every year. But since it is an expected annual problem, it is not as newsworthy as a strange illness.
I think that so many people have overused antibiotics for so long that it gives pause to doctors when an illness behaves in an unusual manner. It is better to warn people to be overly cautious for a period of time than to take chances that may allow such an illness to spread out of control.
US deaths hit double-digits.
It's not very serious, scientists have said.
