Note the part that says 'express your thoughts.'

Your picture is the mirror setting on photobooth. You have a mac. I can't tell who is in the middle, but you are on the outside.

There is an event coming up called "Relay for Life",which is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. In the past, this has been a huge deal at Northwestern. The first year I was here, we raised over $20,000 and were the only school group that raised that much. As an incentive, Mr. Ott waxed his unibrow and Mr. Pearson waxed his chest (they even showed it on video on the announcements!) Mr. Crumb pledged to cut his ponytail if we raised $30K, and we tried VALIANTLY, but didn't quite make it.

Anyway, this year, the Relay for Life thing isn't getting much attention. In 7th grade, the teachers are doing a Rock Band thing and having the students vote for their favorites with money. I'm not sure what the 8th grade is doing, if anything. In 6th grade, we are supposed to do fundraising by team, and we are encouraged to do something wild and fun that the students would like (pies in the face, or seeing the teachers do karaoke, for example).

I would really like to do something for Relay for Life, but there are a lot of teachers who feel that we have already asked the students and their families to do too much already this year.

What do you think? I personally think that part of our job as educators is to teach students to have hearts for giving to others, even if it isn't much. Is another fundraiser right now too much?

If we do it, what would you like to see the teachers do if the students meet a goal? Sing? Dance? Wear banana costumes?

Do it. My brother did it after the Virginia Tech tragedy (and I went) and it was really nice.

Coleman, can you change your settings to put a date stamp on the comments? Right now you just have time.

I say do the fundraiser. My sister had Mr. Pearson for 7th grade when he did that. She said it was really funny when he tried to sing "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al Yankovich. C:
